Headlining on Friday
Arbroath Round Table are bringing you Arbroath Toonfest on 27th and 28th July, 2012.
Picking up from where BarnFest left off, ToonFest is now being held in ‘the toon’ rather than a barn, hence the name change!! There are 3 sessions – Friday night, Saturday afternoon and Saturday night. We have a fantastic line up of live talent with music from Alan Mowatt, Dani-Leigh Emmerson, Smokehouse, Sway and The Declaration Band playing sets over the 3 sessions. ToonFest will be held in Arbroath Community Centre with regular and VIP tickets available.
Since arriving on the gigging scene in April 2011 they have stunned audiences everywhere they go. They are a 6 piece band combining their passion for authentic live quality with a stage performance that never fails to have the whole place jumping.
Formed in 2011, local Arbroath band “Smokehouse” formerly known as “Last Orders” will take you back to the 70’s and early 80’s as a 5 piece predominantly Rock & Blues band covering a wealth of old favorites from bands such as ZZ Top, Free, Bad Company, Rolling Stones, Quo, Doobie Brothers, REM, Eagles, Cream etc. Both front man “Charlie” and Bass Guitarist Allan (Wassel) will be better known from their days with Ken Jenson’s “KJB” band. Colin and Jim on Lead & Rhythm guitar make up the backline along with recent addition “Benny” on Drums.
Smokehouse will be entertaining the crowd at both sessions on the Saturday. A band not to miss!!
Local lass, Danielle-Leigh Emmerson, has exploded into the Angus live music scene this year with an ever increasing number of live and intimate gigs.
ToonFest will introduce Dani to her largest audience and you are in for a treat, twice, as Dani has agreed to play on Friday and Saturday. Her diverse range of music will satisfy everyone and have you on your feet with music from the 60′s all the way through to todays chart hits. Dani-Leigh will blow your mind (and maybe our speakers) with her amazingly powerful voice and if you’ve heard this girl sing, you’ll know she is worth the ticket price by herself and if you haven’t, then you have no idea on what you are missing out on!!!
What’s more, Dani has agreed to waive her regular fees and a donation to charity will be made in her name after the event.
Come along and enjoy the talent that is Alan Mowatt. Alan was born and bred in Arbroath and has lived here all his life and is very much looking forward to ToonFest.
He has been entertaining audiences the length and breadth of Scotland for over 20 years as a solo artist and also as a guest vocalist with the Wayne Robertson Band.
Alan could easily be called Mr Versatility, such is the vast range of genres of music he performs. From Rock, pop and swing to traditional Scottish and Irish music, a full dance floor can be guaranteed when Alan takes to the stage.
Come along and be taken on an exciting journey through the decades with Sway one of the hottest 5 piece bands to hit ToonFest this year. Leading with the sassy & stylish Petra McKecknie covering a range of popular hits from the 50’s right up to the present day you will be spoiled for choice with there sizzling hot set list.
Get your groove on to “Sweet soul music” or why not perfect your rock n roll shake to “Johnny be good” then its really time to turn up the heat with “sex on fire” leaving you really feeling like “Hot Stuff”. Take all that mixed with a few popular ceilidh favourites Sway will certainly leave you “dancing the night away”.
Sway have played a number of stylish & quirky venues across Scotland and consist of a number of talented musicians who have come together to form this popular music experience.
